The Manufacturing Engineer’s primary responsibilities include evaluation of manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, secondary tooling, material flow racks and materials, conferring with equipment vendors, soliciting observations from operators. Reports to the Director of Quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Focus on the design and operation of integrated systems for the production of high-quality, economically competitive products. These systems may include computer networks, robots, machine tools, and materials-handling equipment.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. They apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Maintains current AutoCAD plant drawings and updates accordingly.
- Design and procurement for material flow racks.
- Institutes TAKT studies (takt time study)
- Work with program team to front-load and optimize all aspects of the manufacturing process on each assigned program.
- Assist the program team in the implementation of the APQP process.
- Support the customer, manufacturing and quality in the launch of new programs.
- Support manufacturing and quality in the resolution of customer concerns.
- Responsibilities include all, but are not limited to only, those listed above.
- Support and maintain compliance of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
Follows all safety, housekeeping and company policies and procedures.
Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and job assignments as required.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree or equivalent job experience in Manufacturing. Engineering / Industrial Engineering. Experience in Secondary Tooling. Minimum of three years’ experience working in the automotive industry with injection molded parts and assemblies. Experience in AutoCad. Basic understanding of the injection molding process and secondary processes. Minimum of two years’ experience working with GD&T. Hands on tooling and processing experience beneficial. Strong leadership and problem solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Competent PC skills (i.e. Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Projects and Outlook.
