The Planner-Buyer primary responsibility is to identify inefficiencies and improve processes and/ or deficiencies in our supply chain and production planning departments. The incumbent will troubleshoot and improve our incoming supply to ensure critical quality expectations of materials are met and delivered in a timely manner. While balancing on-hand inventory, incoming supply and production scheduling, this role will maintain and improve the plant’s throughput, on-time delivery performance by ensuring material availability, timely scheduling of customer demand, and stock inventory planning. This role will also play a critical role in the success of outcomes of inventory projects, storage/space utilization and capacity planning.

- Establish strategies to improve supply chain, solve shortage issues and strengthen supplier relationships
- Create and distribute Purchase Orders for assigned components and capable of consolidation in MRP as needed
- Understand and apply MRP reports in ordering parts used in production to ensure appropriate quantity is procured to meet delivery dates
- Obtain materials, components and equipment as required to meet the production schedule. Responsible for expediting orders as necessary. Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel
- Monitor costs of purchased materials.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers to direct and procure supplier technical and operating expertise as required by internal customer
- Collaborate with various departments on projects and as directed
- Work with engineering on new product introductions including early supplier involvement and engage on continuous improvement opportunities, ideas, and projects
- Execute vendor performance scorecards.
- Monitor risks identified through analysis related to inventory and schedule planning and recommend changes
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in procurement
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- A strong understanding of global supply chains, markets, and trends in supply/planning and materials management.
- Strong research and analytics skills/experience
- Must communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Proficient in MicroSoft Office
- Experience with ERP systems and planning software, preferably SAP, Oracle or related functional systems
