Logistics Operations Manager
Job Description:
The Logistics and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the training, performance, and professional development of a team of 35 staff members, including four first-line supervisors across multiple departments: Inbound, Inventory Control and Quality Assurance (ICQA), Order Processing, Outbound, and Vendor/Customer Returns (RMA). This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient warehouse operations and optimal inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Team Leadership and Development:** Lead, train, and mentor a diverse team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- **Demand Forecasting and Capacity Analysis:** Analyze customer demand trends and warehouse capacity to ensure inventory levels meet customer needs within a 90-day forecasting period.
- **Supply Chain Management:** Collaborate with the sales and manufacturing departments to communicate any constraints, requirements, or opportunities for improvement in the supply chain process.
- **Warehouse Improvement Projects:** Develop, coordinate, and execute innovative warehouse improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
- **Methodology Implementation:** Apply Lean principles, including Gemba, Kaizen, 5S, Lean Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and Kanban methodologies to drive process improvements and eliminate waste.
- **Performance Metrics:** Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency, team performance, and project outcomes.
- **Safety Compliance:** Ensure all operations adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements, promoting a safe working environment for all staff.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., APICS, Lean Six Sigma) are preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or operations management, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing complex supply chain operations.
Skills:** Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in logistics software and data analysis tools.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in a warehouse or distribution center environment, with a focus on operational oversight.
- Occasional travel may be required for vendor meetings, training, or project implement and trade shows
