About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion. The person in this role will have a history of demonstrating commitment to diversity and inclusion and will coordinate activities that promote diversity initiatives for the internal and external college community and in compliance with the college’s strategic plan. The program coordinator will be responsible for coordinating employee training and development, and performance management activities at the college. The individual in this position will also support the instructional mission of the institution and promote positive student and customer relations.
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Coordinate programming to increase awareness of various DEI initiatives based upon the direction and guidance of the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Identify trends and concerns of the college community and assist in developing appropriate responses by remaining current with recent literature and monitoring the climate of the college community.
- Collaborate with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Human Resources, Instruction, and other college divisions in program development, design, implementation, and delivery.
- Develop and facilitate trainings while assessing the effectiveness of programming and making improvements as necessary.
- Identify, secure, and schedule subject matter experts to provide appropriate content on DEI strategies and initiatives as identified by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Assist with performing community outreach and building partnerships with external resources to provide programming and other services.
- Organize and plan activities designed to support initiatives related to diversity to improve and increase global and cultural competency within the campus community.
- Collaborate with other areas of the college to improve services to historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities.
- Actively participate in creating and fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging through targeted workshops, training, support groups, mentoring, and student programs.
- Work with Marketing to develop materials and promote services.
- Oversee use of social media for student engagement with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Assist in daily operations of the department.
- Perform administrative duties including drafting documents, scheduling, reporting, research, recordkeeping, and updating policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are required. An example of this would be a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of related experience.

The ability to travel between Kalamazoo Valley campuses throughout Kalamazoo.
Work Hours:
Core business hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
