What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation position at Kansas Christian Home?
Position Summary
The basic function of this position is to assist with scheduling, coordinate, and provide transportation to physician visits or other outings required by the residents of Kansas Christian Home; function will extend to include those on the campus as availability of time allows.
Assist with maintaining central supply inventory, tracking, and ordering.
Essential Functions
Clinical Services
- Schedule routine appointments, including annual physicals, through the corresponding physician’s office.
- Provide the Staffing Coordinator with the next day’s appointments so they can be posted to the nursing stations as well as to involved staff.
- Adjust to schedule changes so that the needs of the residents are maintained.
- Prepare and post notices in neat handwriting of upcoming appointments to be posted in the resident’s rooms to make them aware of the appointment.
- Complete mileage logs for outings.
- Prepare residents for transportation outside, including toileting if needed, or dressing accordingly for the elements.
- Maintain KCH’s vehicles in working order by delivering them for routine maintenance.
- Vacuum the vehicles weekly.
- Maintain vehicles in clean condition daily.
- Report any irregularities in the function of the vehicles to the administrator for approval to have them examined by a mechanic.
- Deliver the opened emergency drug box to the pharmacy for replacement when needed.
- Deliver the laboratory specimens to the appropriate laboratories in adequate time so as not to spoil the specimen and in accordance with OSHA, State and Federal guidelines.
- Assist residents with eating as assigned or time allows.
- Follow infection control and safety practice during the care of residents especially when transferring and positioning.
- Notify the Neighborhood charge nurse of any changes in the resident’s physical and/or mental condition.
- Administrative Services
- Give input regarding programs & progress within departments to improve quality services.
- Attend in-services and participate on committees as assigned.
- Report to charge nurse and/or supervisory staff of any resident, family, inter- or intra- department compliments/concerns.
- Report any unusual occurrence, abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately to the any nurse, social service designee, Administrator, CEO, or supervisory staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 1-2 years experience in long term care, preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
- C.N.A. credentialed and in good standing with the State registry for Nurse Aides.
