Who are we hiring?
The Chief Engineer is responsible for monitoring the engineering department's overall operations, ensuring performance efficiency, and ensuring strict compliance with the safety standards and regulatory procedures. The Chief Engineer will manage the distribution of the tasks to the team, communicate with the clients and management for instructions and specifications, monitor expenses and provide critical information for budgeting, analyze and approve designs, negotiate contracts, and process disputes. The Chief Engineer must have excellent knowledge of the engineering disciplines and exemplary leadership skills to handle the team's performance towards the company's objectives. 
 
What will you do?
  • Assist with the scheduling and management of the CPKC Stadium and the Kansas City Current Training Facility, this includes the team building, rental fields, concessions, restrooms and the surrounding buildings and grounds. 
  • Assists the Director Facility Maintenance and Projects with the coordination of daily work activities of Stadium and Training Facility maintenance personnel.
  • Support the department with technical troubleshooting and repair of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP); fire-life safety; lighting control; and AV systems. 
  • Assist the Director, Facility Maintenance and Projects with identification, scheduling, and coordination of outside service providers to ensure timely, efficient and quality repair and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work schedules to ensure timely completion of contract agreement preventive maintenance work activities. 
  • Researches, locates, and orders parts and materials to help maintain the facility.
  • Guides in-house skilled trades staff in proper repair and quality craftsmanship techniques.
  • Monitors workflow, helps ensure timely completion of demand and preventive work orders utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Attends event planning meetings to interpret needs and assists both managers with the development of event expense estimates, expense forecasting and scheduling of resources. 
  • Performs routine inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • This position will be the KC Current contact and liaison with teams, leagues, and other outside groups pertaining to the use of the KC Current Training Facility. Including sharing our facilities policies, rules and guidelines. 
  • Ensure that all areas of the KC Current Training Facility are neat, clean and presentable for day-to-day operations and specific events. 
  • Assists with skills-based training of Engineering associates as necessary
  • Recognizes and provides coaching, counseling, and discipline as appropriate. 
 
What do you need to succeed?
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a building or project over 100,00 ft2. 
  • Technical knowledge of commercial building MEP systems; chilled water, hot water, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, Carpentry, AV, etc. 
  • Ability to read/understand/interpret Blueprints. 
  • Previous experience with BlueBeam / AutoCad a plus. 
  • Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally. 
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects. 
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure. 
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, offering assistance and support to team members whenever necessary. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel. 
  • Able to provide on-call coverage when scheduled. 
 
Special requirements of the job:
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
  • Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives. 
  • This job operates in an office and stadium environment. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. This position will work in various weather conditions including, but not limited to, heat, cold, rain and sunny environments. 
     
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by 
    an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a very active role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. This role will include the following frequently: 
     
    • Heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. 
    • Standing/walking for extended periods of time 
    • Carrying and/or transporting heavy objects, usually by hand, arm, or shoulder 
    • Pushing, pulling, and exerting force to complete tasks and assignments
    • Forklift and/or scissor lift certification preferred
    • Aerial lift certified preferred
