Laboratory Technician Job Description
Assist senior lab technicians and scientists with analytical testing of cannabis, hemp, food, and specialized research projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Logging in samples, including taking photos, recording chain of custody, weighing, and following standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements.
- Performing screening and confirmation extractions for samples
- Preparing reagents, supplies, and standards as needed
- Receiving and unpacking sample shipments
- Performing disposal of samples
- Maintaining, cleaning, or sterilizing laboratory instruments or equipment
- Storing samples in accordance with SOP
- Other work as required in a chemistry laboratory setting
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in hard sciences
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and laboratory safety protocols
- Ability to work with hands
- Ability to wear laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE) 3-6 hours out of the day
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in chemistry, biology, forensic sciences, or other hard sciences, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- College level math skill level
- College level reading skills
- Experience following standard operating procedures or working with a laboratory information management system
- Ability to lift items 10 pounds or less
