Product Development Engineer
Summary:
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be working collaboratively and independently with other designers, engineers, and suppliers who are responsible for the design, support and manufacturing of commercial HVAC equipment. You will learn how to take a product from concept to design with a focus on performance components, manufacturing efficiency, and product design.

As a Product Development Engineer, you will be working collaboratively and independently with other designers, engineers, and suppliers who are responsible for the design, support and manufacturing of commercial HVAC equipment. You will learn how to take a product from concept to design with a focus on performance components, manufacturing efficiency, and product design.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze systems and components related to the operation and assembly of HVAC equipment
- Collaborate with suppliers on the design of new or alternative components
- Researches and evaluates products, parts, or processes for performance, cost efficiency and reliability
- Produce and maintain test schedules
- Data acquisition setup and programming
- Conduct product testing and troubleshooting
- Collects and interprets test results and recommends appropriate design changes
- Conduct tests and collect data related to product performance and reliability
- Maintain an awareness of all applicable industry standards
- Collaborate with the Engineers and Designers in the design of systems and subassemblies ready for manufacturing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Wholistic view of products and the interdependencies
- Strong decision making, organizational and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome unforeseen obstacles
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products
- 2-5 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment
Safety/Physical requirements:
- Incumbent must be able to access manufacturing and assembly areas on the shop floor in order to inspect units, investigate problems and/or potential solutions to problems, and to prove out potential solutions to problems.
- Requires bending, stooping and standing.
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.
