What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk II - Medical Examiner (PT) position at Kent County?
Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform a variety of clerical support functions in the Medical Examiners Office (located within the Kent County Health Department). Will serve as initial point of contact, responding to general inquiries via telephone and email. Will generate investigative case reports, monitor statistics database, and generate invoices for month end billing. Will perform other clerical duties assigned including, data entry, filing, photocopying, and scanning of decedent records. Issuance of cremation permits and medical certifications for death certificate filing, as needed.
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, general knowledge of medical terminology and bookkeeping experience. Due to the nature of departmental tasks, applicants should have ability to maintain confidentiality and possess high comfort level with exposure to postmortem images and traumatic case narratives.
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of successful clerical experience. Must be able to maintain accuracy of work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Must possess excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, database and Internet applications.Must possess effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to positively interact with clients from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Delivering excellent customer service to all clients while maintaining confidentiality of information is essential. Some knowledge of Medical Terminology and the ability to speak Spanish is beneficial.
