Position Overview
Kents Hill School is seeking a motivated, collaborative, and resourceful Director of Operations to help oversee our idyllic 400-acre campus nestled in the mountains and lakes of central Maine. Our Director of Operations oversees and partners with several dedicated and talented teams here on campus to maintain the school’s infrastructure and resources. The Director of Operations will both tend to the school in its current form, and help its leadership team envision and strategize for the campus’ growth as the school enters its third century.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments in the organization, including Maintenance, Housekeeping, Grounds, and Transportation.
Financial: Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to project and refine costs. Prepare and control operational budgets. Plan effective strategies for the financial well being of the school.
Best Practices: Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
Staffing: Plan the use of human resources within the operations department. Organize recruitment and placement of required staff. Establish organizational structures. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance.
Management: Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery. Provide technical support where necessary.
Communication: Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of Operations support services for all departments. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.
Strategic Input: Liaise with the Head of School and CFOO. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
