SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator (PC) assists in managing the flow of technical information between the Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF) project management team, KSF fabrication shop, customers, subcontractors, and vendors, while developing critical relationships with internal and external clients, through verbal and written communication. The PC collaborates with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are executed smoothly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Specific Duties:
- Review design drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness, and coordinate resolution of discrepancies and/or missing information with customers, design team, other trades, detailing, fab shop, and field.
- Coordinate project sequencing and steel detailing set-up, including advance bill of materials and shop and erection drawings.
- Assist with creation, review, and transmittal of project submittals.
- Act as a liaison between shop, field, and detailers to resolve fabrication and erection difficulties.
- Maintain daily communication with Project Managers.
- Coordinate detailing efforts of various common subcontractors.
- Provide technical instructions and guidance to steel detailers in preparing shop drawings per project requirements and KSF detailing standards.
- Serve as a link between detailers, project manager, KSF production departments, contractors, customers, and the design team.
- Monitor project progress and assist in mitigating any issues.
- Ensure industry and project-specific standards & requirements are met through conducting quality assurance checks.
- Understand and adhere to contractual requirements specified in contract documents.
Other Job Specific Duties:
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, reports, etc.
- Process shop drawings with fabrication software in preparation of release to fabrication.
- Monitor project schedules regarding submittals, approvals, and shop fabrication releases. Identify and communicate possible delays or problems to Project Managers.
- Responsible for document control, RFIs, and logs to ensure all pertinent information is complete and current.
- Review, process, and respond to detailer RFIs.
- Must maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with KSF procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Must understand and follow the Kern Steel Fabrication (KSF) Code of Conduct and all guidelines in the KSF employee handbook.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project.
- Bluebeam (preferred but not required).
- Company policies and procedures.
- Client-facing and teamwork skills.
Ability to:
- Read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Be self-directed and complete tasks without supervision.
- Read and understand AISC Code of Standard Practice.
- Walk one (1) mile without health concerns.
- Perform all work assignments and work up to ten-hour days.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Work independently and in a team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
- High school diploma with at least three (3) years of experience in project coordination will be considered in lieu of degree.
Salary : $26 - $30
