Overview
Experience a life changing internship this summer! Kids of the Community's commitment to helping youth gain skills for success spans more than 20 years and includes a comprehensive array of programs and services.
Kids of the Community holds a summer outreach program in which interns interact with the youth in our program on a daily basis. Interns will serve as leaders for activities that promote the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the children in our program. Initial training will be provided before beginning work with our youth.
The internship is a 8-week, full-time, paid position running from May 26-June 20 and July 7- August 1, 2025. Interns will be off from June 23- July 4 for our program break. Interns must be able to commit to work for the duration of the summer excluding our break. The stipend for the summer will be $2000 paid in 4 increments over the 8 week period.
Opportunities are available for bachelor's level interns that have at least finished their first year of studies. All majors are encouraged to apply.
The internship is a 40 hour/week position 8:00am - 5pm Monday-Friday. Interns will have all weekends off and a two week break from June 23-July 4.
Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing a positive role model to youth by participating in all activities, demonstrating a healthy and wholesome approach to life, & developing a sense of community within the organization.
- Assisting youth with the positive development and implementation of individual goals.
- Attending weekly staff meetings.
- Helping to resolve conflicts that arise.
- Giving youth immediate feedback on appropriate and inappropriate behavior.
- Planning and leading recreational activities and participating or instructing youth in games.
- Supervising children on off-campus trips.
- Maintaining a safe program environment through appropriate responses and attendance.
- Partnering with other agencies including Second Harvest Food Bank, Juvenile Court Services, and Helping Hands Ministry.
