children'sThe Sewanee Children’s Center is seeking creative, fun, organized and responsible camp counselors for the summer. In this position, you will play a key role in shaping and educating our children by teaching them on numerous indoor and outdoor activities and experiences. You will also collaborate with other counselors, create plans and activities, and lead children in fun-filled projects for ages 3 to 8. Camp is Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm for 8 weeks starting June 2nd. But, you will start working May 28, 2025, to have the classroom and activities ready, and continue until August 1, 2025, to close out the summer. Camp is closed on July 4th.
Camp Counselor Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee children's activities
- Guide and teach a range of indoor and outdoor activities
- Instruct and organize children's projects (arts and crafts, dramatics, etc.)
- Ensure children safety and monitor their activities
- Follow DHS rules and regulations
- Come to camp rested and able to deal with the demands of children
- Supervise children during meals and naps
- Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines
- Maintain a clean environment
- Respect the confidentiality of all children, families, and colleagues
- May perform administrative tasks (accident report…) as needed
Ideal Candidates
- Have experience working with kids
- Are at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma
- Hold First Aid Certification (would be ideal)
