What are the responsibilities and job description for the Simulation Engineer position at Kinetic Vision?
The Modeling and Simulation Team at Kinetic Vision is expanding its finite element analysis capabilities and is in need of an early career Simulation Engineer to help our team grow. This position is an on-site role at our corporate office in Cincinnati.
A Simulation Engineer utilizes Finite Element Analysis, computational modeling and other related techniques to solve complex engineering challenges and optimize product designs
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure project work is completed on time and at quality in a manner consistent with company and client policies and requirements as an individual contributor
- Develop domain expertise and support more senior members of staff in establishing and maintaining best practices and standards
- Actively participate in meetings and project discussions, both internally and externally. Ask questions and learn from more experienced engineers
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients to facilitate repeat business through customer service, quality work, and creative problem solving
- Provide mentorship, guidance and support to peers and lower level colleagues to help cultivate our early-career talent pipeline and team culture
Additional Responsibilities
- Utilize your understanding of engineering mechanics and physics to solve challenging problems
- Develop and run computational models (FEA, DEM, DES, Multiphysics, etc.) both independently or at the direction of more experienced team members
- Actively develop your skill set by contributing to an array of projects and exploring new concepts, software packages, and workflows
- Estimate project effort based on the business case in support of a technical leader (Solution Owner)
- Deliver quality work and great customer service including clear and direct client communication as a key contributor in projects and client engagements
- Learn to interpret results and make design and process recommendations directly to clients
- Balance multiple projects with competing priorities in a fast-paced, fluid environment. Learn to collaborate across teams, disciplines, and business functions
Qualifications
- 3-5 years structural simulation industry experience
- Experience with Ansys, LS-Dyna, HyperWorks, Abaqus, and/or Radioss. Experience with Python or other software languages is a plus
- Strong communicator. Ability to work with empathy and take ownership of problems as if they are your own
- Proactive. Self-motivated to research, learn, and tinker
- Team player
- Excellent analytical problem solving skills
- Effective communication, and ability to work with individuals and teams from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds
- Exposure to some of the following disciplines:
- Scripting and automation in Python
- Heat transfer
- Fluids/Fluid Dynamics
- Electromagnetics
- Biomechanics
- Statistics, numerical analysis, and data engineering
- Mechanical design, prototyping, and CAD
- Machine learning
- Optimization
- Hands-on lab and testing experience
- Experience with lab equipment and instrumentation (i.e. Instron or other material testing systems)
Education Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering. We will also consider applicants with the equivalent combination of education, technical expertise, training, and work experience.
