Research Chemist (Specialty Markets Group)
Location Onsite : Norwalk, CT
King Industries, Inc. is actively seeking a passionate and skilled Research Chemist to join our Specialty Markets Group (SMG). The ideal candidate will have a solid academic foundation in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, hands-on experience in laboratory synthetic preparations, and a strong proficiency in using modern software tools for data analysis and visualization.
- Skills Required : Regular and consistent attendance at our Norwalk location is required.
- Strong background in organic synthesis, including hands-on experience with synthetic methods and processes.
- Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accountability.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical service, engineering, sales, and marketing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for reporting, teamwork, and presentations.
- A self-starter with an internal drive to succeed, a strong sense of urgency, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Must be innovative, resourceful, and capable of thinking critically to tackle challenges.
- Demonstrates the ability to research new projects by leveraging technical literature and scientific resources.
- Education and Experience Requirements : B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry.
- Understanding of laboratory synthetic preparations.
- Familiarity with current Windows-based software for spreadsheet manipulation, data handling and graphics composition.
- Duties and Responsibilities : Responsible for researching, planning, and designing experiments.
- Conduct research to improve existing manufacturing process.
- Conduct research leading to new products.
- Prepare manufacturing process description / transmittals for new products. Interface and assist plant engineer / production in the scale-up process of new products.
- Responsible for researching, planning, and designing synthetic and analytical experiments.
- Develop and or implement detailed research plans and projects per ISO procedures.
- Submit detailed monthly reports outlining performance and activities every two months or on needed basis.
- Interact with marketing and technical service personnel to promote new products.
- Provide technical assistance to other departments as required.
- Submit detailed monthly reports outlining performance and activities every two months or on needed basis.
- Prepare manufacturing process description / transmittals for new products.
- Present summaries of research progress at internal meetings.
- Participates in company wide effort to promote and adhere to quality, occupational health & safety, and environmental (QHSE) management systems in accordance with requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
- Maintain knowledge of how their activities impact the QHSE Management Systems should they deviate from established controls and criteria.
