Description
The Production Supervisor directly supervises the hourly work force in the production of food products to achieve the safety, quality, and productivity goals of King and Prince Seafood Corp. To continually improve products and processes through productive management of multiple production processes. Train and develop new production employees to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Ideal Candidate must possess the following Qualifications :
Ability to adhere to a 4x10 production schedule.
Ability to work night shift from approximately 5PM to 3AM.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
3 years' experience as a production supervisor at a Food Processing facility (seafood preferred).
Personal Computer skills including MS Office and familiarity with software systems (time keeping, personnel records, process control data, material management, maintenance work orders, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop good working relationships with partner departments (QA, HR, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.)
Proven problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze performance trends and implement improvement plans.
Proven management and interaction skills.
Proven Coaching and mentoring skills.
Requirements
Safety and Security
Instruct hourly personnel in the safe operation of equipment and overall safety and security aspects of their positions.
Supervise hourly personnel to ensure compliance with Company safety and security procedures and standards.
Proactively participate in and model Company safety programs.
To provide a safe working environment for line personnel.
Monitor condition of equipment, facilities and initiate corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
Quality Control
Direct activities of line personnel to ensure that products meet the current product specifications.
Review product specifications daily to assure that they are up to date and to ensure that any changes in the specifications are implemented.
Monitor production personnel to ensure that all follow Good Manufacturing Practices in the processing and handling of food products
Maintain housekeeping in production areas at the highest possible level through proper line set up, employee training, and job assignment.
Monitor condition of equipment and facilities as related to Quality and initiate corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
Investigate methods to improve productivity and quality of the production process.
Assist in the monthly internal facility audit while addressing all production related issues.
Productivity
Proactively manage all aspects of multiple production processes simultaneously to :
Achieve scheduled outputs
Meet or exceed standard yields
Meet or exceed standard throughputs
Minimize labor costs
Minimize unpackaged goods (WIP and byproducts)
Analyze production trends and develop corrective actions when problems are identified.
Aid maintenance planning in the timely scheduling of assets to insure completion of scheduled maintenance.
Maintain a dedicated, capable, productive team of skilled Line Technicians and Line Operators through further program development.
Aid Training Manager in developing employee training material.
Assist Production Manager in supporting cost accounting with appropriate production performance data related to new and current SKU's head count and rates with the approval of the Plant Manager.
Participate in weekly downtime focus meetings to determine root causes and corrective actions.
Monitor on time starts and shift change turnovers while developing new processes / tools that will improve performance and communication.
Provide supervisor coverage on both shifts during scheduled supervisor vacations.
Provide assistance across both shifts when performance is not meeting standard and or downtime is above target.
Aid in scheduling / monitoring of the Operator Care program, including appropriate equipment P.M.'s.
Aid in scheduling / monitoring of Alchemy training and certifications.
Conduct daily line safety walks.
Attend daily Maintenance Production recap meetings as a production representative to offer support and feedback.
Lead shift DDS meetings with other departments to plan and prioritize the daily plant needs.
Conduct daily shift start huddles with hourly workforce.
Partner with Research and Development to conduct various product and material tests.
Aid sanitation with accurate line layouts and equipment needs across both shifts.
Personal
Develop, implement, and monitor a training approach to ensure employees are appropriately trained for the task assigned.
Enforce company policies such as Attendance, Dress Code, GMP's, etc.
Aid in reducing or eliminating non-productive labor cost and to effectively manage overtime.
Promote a sense of teamwork among the hourly workforce through motivation and training of the employees.
Develop the skills of key employees to enable them to accept more responsibility for the production line process.
Assist Plant Manager and Production Manager with developing the skills of new supervisors.
