What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Program Director position at King's Kid Christian Daycare Center?
Job Overview
The Program Director must have all credentials as outlined by the Michigan Childcare and Development policy at time of hiring to qualify for this position. The Program Director must monitor all curriculum for all classrooms, including daily lessons and activities. The Director will create a system of communication to parents via newsletters, bulletin boards and emailed material.
The Director must communicate with parents and relay information based on each child’s capabilities and work with teachers to develop learning and activities to meet their cognitive, emotional, physical and social needs, as well as assist in the classrooms where needed. The Director is responsible for ensuring all State of Michigan Childcare licensing rules are enforced and maintained by all staff, implement staff meetings and update or correct any daily functions that are mandated by the Center.
While working with children, the Program Director must maintains confidentiality. Any suspected child abuse must be reported to Child Protective Services and to the Daycare Center supervisor, and must keep adequate records of any accidents incurred by a child under care.
The Program Director is responsible for keeping the lead teachers, and students credentials/files current, as well as responsible for attending any professional development activities required by the State of Michigan. The Director must have skills to lead and to create a positive atmosphere for growth. Most importantly, the Program Director must have fun at our Center!
Duties
- Supervise lead teachers, assistant teachers, and volunteers.
- Supervise and engage with children in a daycare setting, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development.
- Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their curiosity and creativity.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, utilizing behavior management techniques as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive educational experience for all children.
Skills
- Leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong background in childhood development principles and practices.
- Experience in special education or working with children with diverse needs is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in daycare or preschool settings is required.
- Proficient in behavior management strategies to effectively handle various situations in the classroom.
- Excellent classroom management skills to maintain an orderly environment conducive to learning.
- Ability to engage effectively with children of different ages and backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with parents, colleagues, and children alike.
