What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Literacy Coach position at Kingdom East Unified Union School District?
Kingdom East School District is looking for a K-3 Literacy Coach to join our professional learning community as we implement a structured phonics program to strengthen literacy instruction for our early readers. Embedded professional learning and collaboration continues to be a priority to develop literacy skills in children across the early stages of reading and writing. The candidate must be a dynamic, high quality literacy leader focused on equitable practices. Primary responsibilities include working alongside classroom teachers to support thorough implementation of UFLI Foundations. This includes engaging in coaching cycles (plan, do, study act) around co-planning, modeling lessons, team teaching, and participating in grade band collaborative team meetings. Chosen individual will work closely with the Director of Innovation and Learning, the instructional coaching team, and the principals.
Experience with K-3 literacy instruction within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), workshop model, structured literacy, UFLI, play based learning, personalized proficiency based learning, and the PLC at Work collaborative approach is encouraged.
We are located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME.
