What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Specialist - RFT - Therapy Services position at KINGS DAUGHTERS MEDICAL CENTER?
Receives all patients and/or visitors to the outpatient clinic, schedule any return appointments and receives incoming telephone calls.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Greet patients and/or visitors upon entrance of the clinic.
- Schedule and maintain patient appointment book.
- Establish billing and clinical charts for new patients.
- Assign new patients to an appropriate clinician.
- Assist in typing, copying, and filing correspondence.
- Assist in routing correspondence to proper staff.
- Assist in receiving monies and handling appropriately as outlined by the KDMC PFS Director.
- Maintain and manage sending and receiving of plans of care to the appropriate physician(s) in a timely manner.
- Assist in transcribing notes and evaluations as dictated by therapist.
- Maintain professional and appropriate relations with office staff at KDMC.
- Participates in departmental meetings, in-services and projects as requested.
- Participates in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Two years’ business school training and/or work experience commensurate with the responsibilities preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates the ability to manage and perform general office responsibilities and communicates well with patients, business, and/or professional associates.
- Ability to have a good relationship with others.
