Summary Description
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for keeping all manufacturing and facility related equipment in safe working condition and avoiding unscheduled downtime. In this role, the Manager will coordinate the preventive / corrective maintenance, parts inventory, equipment repairs history while scheduling and tracking day to day functions of its team. This position is a working managerial position which manages the maintenance staff, department budget, capital expenditure and major repairs.
Assists the Leadership team to develop capital project, assets replacement, research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical devices, including tools, engines, and machines.
In this role, incumbent will be a direct support of the implementation and coordination of company’s safety programs, lead the Plant Safety Committee and develop new programs, update existing procedures, maintain documentation, and train personnel in all safety procedures. Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to general industry, combined with knowledge in the application of engineering principles and technology is a must to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions. Incumbent will liaise with management and external safety agencies, such as OSHA, DERM, Fire Departments, and others to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
Essential Duties
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs to enhance the reliability of equipment and machines.
- Safety Program Leadership: Lead the company's Safety Program, providing comprehensive training and guidance to all personnel.
- Project Planning and Coordination: Plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to surveys, design, construction, modification, and maintenance of building structures, equipment, and machines.
- Capital Projects: Direct the execution of capital projects, ensuring timelines and budgetary goals are met.
- Scheduling and Assignments: Determine schedules and assignments for work activities based on priorities, equipment needs, and the skills of maintenance staff and contractors.
- Team Management: Guide, motivate, and discipline direct reports following best management practices and company guidelines.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor employees' work levels and review performance to ensure goals are achieved.
- Inventory and Maintenance: Monitor tool and part inventories, as well as the condition and maintenance of buildings and equipment, ensuring spare parts are readily available or quickly sourced from local vendors to meet operational demands.
- Efficiency Improvement: Review plans and specifications for new and existing machinery or equipment to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing safety.
- Key Activity Indicators: Monitor and manage Key Activity Indicators, reporting daily and shift performance.
- Safety and Health Programs: Develop, implement, and update written safety and health programs, including the Hazard Communication Program, Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment Program (PPE), Chemical Hygiene Plan, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Emergency Action Plan, and Building Evacuation and Fire Safety plan.
- Training: Ensure onboarding, quarterly, refresher safety training, and all other required training are provided for all employees.
- Accident Investigations: Conduct accident/injury investigations and illness exposure monitoring.
- Vehicle Inspections: Ensure periodic inspections of all motorized vehicles.
- Maintenance Software Management: Manage and ensure the smooth operation of the site’s Maintenance Software (PEMAC).
- Budget Management: Develop and maintain budgets for onsite external contractor material and labor costs.
- Compliance Programs: Maintain and update the site's SPCC and Stormwater compliance programs in collaboration with external consultants.
- SEA Leadership: Lead and participate in SEA’s when trigger points are breached.
Education and/or Experience: BS in mechanical or electrical engineering and a minimum of (8) eight years of experience in equipment maintenance management and reliability in a large industrial setting is required for this role. Incumbent must pass an OSHA 30-hour safety and health training, forklift training and job assessment training.
