Job Description The Vice President, U.S. Value and Access will be responsible for leading an exceptional organization that guides access across the patient journey for Kite cellular therapies in the US. This role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, ongoing assessment, and adaptation of strategies to enhance patient and provider access to Kite’s transformative treatments. The function is comprised of Value, Access, Pricing Strategy (VAPS), Cell Therapy Market Access Directors (CTMADs), and Patient and Channel Access (PCA). The CTMAD team has dual responsibility for payers, ensuring coverage and reimbursement for through regional, national, and government payers, and for ATCs, including communicating payer coverage, ensuring sustainable financial and reimbursement confidence, and supporting ATC network expansion. This role is responsible for leading an exceptional culture of performance and collaboration while setting the bar for the team’s expert delivery of approved clinical and health economic information, including Real World Evidence (RWE), clinical data, cost-effectiveness studies, and overseeing development of innovative pricing and access strategies nationally. This role reports to the Head of US Commercial and serves as a member of the U.S. Kite Leadership Team (U.S. KLT). The role will be based in Kite’s headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. We are open to potentially exploring remote options. Key Responsibilities Ensure successful implementation of Kite U.S. Value and Access strategies and tactics nationally Ensure competitive patient access nationally at both payer and Authorized Treatment Center Define U.S. Value Evidence Strategy with supportive messaging and ensure effective dissemination Regularly monitor the U.S. policy and competitive landscape and provide ongoing strategic updates to the organization to inform critical decisions Lead strategic pricing discussions and facilitate final decisions for all US pricing actions, including but not limited to Kite Pricing Committee Lead U.S Value and Access Strategic Planning process and ensure safeguards in place to monitor ongoing risks and opportunities Maintain effective, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Gilead Government Affairs and Policy, Global Market Access, HEOR, Clinical and Medical Affairs Lead and mentor a cross functional team of market access experienced professionals across channel and patient access, account management, and pricing Inspire the team to think differently and act urgently for patients every day Own the performance management and feedback process for the team Retain top talent and develop individualized career development plans for team Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support key Kite strategic market access activities Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders (U.S. KLT) to ensure strategic alignment and flawless implementation. Identify opportunities and facilitate initiatives to improve Kite Cell Therapy portfolio performance in the U.S. Develop significant relationships with external senior decision makers and influencers across both payer / providers in the U.S. and represent Kite / Gilead at public industry panels addressing cellular therapy access Ensure team develops and implements activities in compliance with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Kite activities Basic Qualifications Doctorate Degree and 12 years of market access or leadership experience OR Master’s Degree and 14 years of market access or leadership experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 16 years of market access or leadership experience OR High School Degree and 20 years of market access or leadership experience Preferred Qualifications 15 years of Market Access experience from a mix of mid-sized to large and small biopharma companies, including 10 years of Market Access leadership experience Broad and diversified US Market Access expertise to include multiple therapeutic areas including Oncology, complex treatment regimens, HQ functional experience, and/or work experience at a US payer Deep expertise in the US reimbursement system, across public and private payers, as well as reimbursement dynamics at the Authorized Treatment Centers (ATC) Understanding of the emerging reimbursement landscape for Oncology therapies and a curative treatment paradigm Cross functional Market Access experience and/or leadership experience to include Trade/Channel, Patient Services, Payer Marketing and/or Contracts Pricing Sustained track record of achievement in developing Market Access strategies and leading teams to follow through on the plan Ability to lead by example, attract and develop talent, strengthen partnerships and create a culture of collaboration and high performing teams that fosters open communication, constructive feedback and organizational flexibility Excellent strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully lead in a novel, changing environment Creativity and resilience in problem solving and a perseverant, hands-on work ethic to implement and accomplish performance goals and targets in a rapid-paced, changing business environment. Comfort with uncertainty and the ability to exercise sound judgment and determine appropriate action where precedent may not exist.
