As the Controller at Klatch Coffee, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and operational efficiency of a rapidly growing, multi-channel coffee business. In this hands-on, fast-paced environment, you won’t just manage the numbers—you’ll help build the financial foundation that drives our next phase of expansion. You will wear many hats, working collaboratively across departments to streamline financial operations, implement scalable systems, and optimize cash flow to support growth in eCommerce, manufacturing, and retail. Beyond ensuring compliance and accuracy, you will act as a key strategic partner to leadership, providing data-driven insights that drive smarter business decisions. The Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations across all business units. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial stability and growth while maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This position will oversee a small office staff that is hard working and collaborative. The ideal candidate has experience in multi-channel business operations, inventory management, and cost accounting within manufacturing and retail environments.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to senior leadership within the first 30 days.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial reporting standards.
- Develop and manage financial KPIs to assess company performance, ensuring reporting accuracy by the end of the first quarter.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions with a goal of improving process efficiency within the first 60 days.
- Ensure proper cost accounting and inventory valuation in the manufacturing and retail sectors, implementing standard cost procedures within 90 days.
- Implement and enforce internal controls and risk management policies, with a full audit of existing controls completed in the first 60 days.
- Coordinate and oversee annual audits and tax filings, ensuring 100% compliance by year-end.
- Monitor and optimize cash flow management and working capital, establishing a reporting system within the first 45 days.
- Develop strategies for cost reduction, profitability, and financial efficiency, presenting initial recommendations within 90 days.
- Provide insights and recommendations for business growth and expansion opportunities, with an actionable plan by the 6-month mark.
- Work with IT to ensure financial systems integration across eCommerce, retail, and manufacturing platforms within the first 120 days.
- Evaluate and implement ERP systems and other financial technologies to streamline operations, with initial assessments completed in the first 60 days.
- Automate financial processes for efficiency and accuracy, ensuring at least one key automation is in place within the first 6 months.
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, conducting formal training sessions within the first 90 days.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure financial alignment with operational goals, with a strategic financial review completed within the first quarter.
- Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership in business planning and decision-making, providing initial business insights within the first 60 days.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or controlling, preferably in manufacturing, retail, and eCommerce sectors.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar financial software.
- Proven ability to manage inventory costing, margin analysis, and multi-location financial consolidation.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.
