Payroll Analyst - Auditor- Goldendale, WA - Full-time, Non-Exempt, Grade 39, Steps 1-3. $23.85 – $25.31/Hr. DOQ. First review 6/30/2023. Open until filled.
Performs complex payroll accounting activities which result in the timely preparation and maintenance of Klickitat County payroll, payroll records, management reports, and payroll record files; verifies compliance with County Personnel Policy, federal and state regulations and Bargaining Unit contracts in matters relating to employee pay issues and practices.
Essential Job Duties:- Knowledge of "CORE" Document Retention Policies.
- Remains current on legal, regulatory, contract and County policies affecting payroll operations.
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of a full set of payroll records including employee files, and files related to benefits, garnishments, tax and retirement reporting records.
- Compiles, coordinates and oversees data entry, auditing, processing, payment and distribution of all payroll and payroll related accounts payable vouchers for all County departments. Oversees audit procedures to assure compliance with accounting standards and all Federal, State, County and union policies and regulations. Prepares and distributes payroll warrants and related reports.
- Audit, reconciliation and filing of payroll time sheets.
- Verification and maintenance of employee time bank accruals.
- Preparation and filing of bi-monthly, quarterly and annual federal and state earnings, withholding and retirement reports.
- Submits payroll vouchers to the County Board of Commissioners for approval.
- Processes federal, state liens, garnishments of wages.
- Preparation of W-2 Forms.
- Provides support to other accounting personnel within the Auditor's Office.
- Interfaces with benefits providers and departments in resolving payment, reporting issues and discrepancies.
- Member of Financial System Support Team.
- Assists supervisors, county departments in preparing special reports or projects requiring research, interpretation and/or auditing of financial and statistical data.
- Initiates necessary correspondence/action to meet deadlines and assure timely processing.
- Audits Employee Status Forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Reconciles medical, life insurance and retirement components for internal and external reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques and related tools/equipment to accomplish the basic function of this position, including any safety and/or legal requirements. This may, but not necessarily, include specialized skills.
