Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Trussville, Alabama
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller with 5 years of accounting experience or a combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing (P/R), general ledger balancing (G/L), and accounts payable/receivable (A/P & A/R). Experience in construction job costing and proficiency in eCMS and COINS software is highly preferred. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual who can effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and process payroll (P/R), ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Manage general ledger (G/L) balancing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist with accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Utilize eCMS and COINS software for job cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting. Willing to train on the software.
- Ensure accurate construction job costing, tracking project expenses, and assisting in budget management.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, financial audits, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and variance analysis to support senior management.
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Work closely with project managers, accounting teams, and leadership to streamline financial operations.
- Assist in the development and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in eCMS and COINS accounting software preferred but not necessary.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing (P/R), general ledger (G/L), and job cost accounting.
- Experience with accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R).
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial software applications.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a high-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.
