What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at KoMiCo Hillsboro LLC?
The IT Technician installs and maintains the facility’s information technology infrastructure, network, equipment, computers, cabling, servers, printers, telecom equipment and all related software in a timely manner. Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software problems using approved methods and communicating with product support as needed. Maintains and restores backups of company data residing on servers and manufacturing equipment.
Job Duties:
- Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
- Specifies and requests equipment, services and software necessary to support company IT requirements
- Monitors IT systems security and recommends and takes appropriate actions to prevent systems security breaches
- Prepares obsolete or unrepairable IT systems hardware and software for safe and secure disposal to protect company’s data and adhere to relevant regulatory requirements
- Assists other company personnel in the maintenance of the company’s manufacturing and facilities infrastructure
- Works within a system (e.g. Asset Management, system monitoring, help desk software) to manage and record IT systems maintenance and repairs
- Provides regular reports to management on status of IT systems
- Provides setup, training, and support to computer and systems users
- Normally receives moderate to little supervision on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
- Informs management of security issues
- Must follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures and understand the impact of position on safety
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Able to read and understand OEM manuals and information
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with outside vendors and internal staff
- Windows and Microsoft Office environment skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong troubleshooting ability
- Strong writing skills to document changes and additions to IT systems
- Able to effectively use test equipment, accessories, tools, and peripheral equipment
Education / Experience:
- Required: High School degree or GED, a minimum of 1 - 3 years of relative experience
- Preferred: Trade school, 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience, an interest in obtaining IT certifications such as CompTIA A and Network .
