Role: VP- Business Development

Core Responsibilities:
Work with skinbetter science's founders in identifying, evaluating, securing and developing continued disruptive external innovation for the brand and, as appropriate, the LDB division. Coordinate with founders in worldwide curation of new technologies that address unmet market needs and complement brand's category-by-category approach to novel skincare and anti-aging solutions. Responsible for managing brand's technology pipeline to ensure optimal mix of near-, mid-, and longer-term development programs to support consistent cadence of product launches in strategic growth areas, with emphasis on programs susceptible to efficient, front-loaded proof-of-concept elucidation and, thereafter, predictable speed to market.
In alignment with brand's founders, assume front-line oversight responsibility for the following 3 pillars:
Business Development
- Monitoring of global skincare research and innovation trends, and identification of targets of opportunity;
- Develop system to track and evaluate new and existing technology opportunities;
- Stage-gate evaluation of new and existing technology opportunities, including technical, scientific and business diligence under confidentiality as appropriate;
- Coordination with brand, LDB and L'Oreal R&I stakeholders to ensure proper alignment with respect to new and existing technology opportunities, without unnecessarily elongating or otherwise stifling brand's innovation cycles ("Coordinated Independence");
- Framing of strategy for licensing or otherwise acquiring target technology opportunities, and driving business negotiations with counter-parties in relation to same.
- Preparation of financial analysis and business case to support pursuit of technology opportunities;
Legal
- Contract management- Administering agreements ; Efficiently managing contract creation, execution, and analysis for the purpose of maximizing financial and operational performance and minimizing risk
Scientific/R&I
- Ongoing post-closing management of technology partner relationships ("Alliance Management") to ensure timely advancement of development programs, including longitudinal opportunities for line extensions, improvements and new IP.
Experience:
College degree required. Further post-graduate education in business, science, finance or law preferred. Minimum 15 years' experience in skincare, dermatology or medical aesthetics industries, ideally in business development role, or combination of other multi-disciplinary experience sufficient to provide significant working knowledge of skin biology, process of successful commercialization of industry products, and attendant clinical/regulatory/IP considerations.
Salary Range: 180k-255k base salary bonus
