LA Aluminum Casting Company is a single source U.S.A manufacturer of permanent mold aluminum castings. For nearly 78 years, LA Aluminum Casting Company has been serving customers high-quality permanent mold aluminum castings. LA Aluminum was founded in Culver City, California by a two-person operation, Mr. & Mrs. Oswald. The business grew very quickly and as a result finally landing in Hayden, Idaho in 1972. It is third generation owned and operated with a Foundry and a CNC Machine Shop.
The Role: The Plant Manager has overall responsibility for maintaining safety, quality, throughput (production) and cost goals for the manufacturing operation.
The Plant Manager provides leadership for operation of multiple value streams, ensures a safe work environment, maximizes profitable growth, drives quality improvements, provides premier customer service, develops a technically qualified workforce, and reduces operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
· Provide leadership for all production Supervisors to ensure goals (KPI) are met, included but not limited to safety, environmental, quality, delivery, productivity and cost objectives.
· Production scheduling and control of the foregoing functions, activities, and responsibilities.
· Create and drive a continuous improvement agenda that ensures productivity, product quality, and plant projects are successfully executed.
· Ownership of the Company’s bottom line and costs. Be creative in reducing costs while increasing productivity.
· Ensure that cost, quality, and delivery goals and other KPI goals are met.
· Participate with the President, QA, and Sales in the review of bids for new work.
· Manage and oversee the facility inside and out such that it presents a professional image.
· Maintain a safe work environment to safety regulation compliance and ensure health and wellbeing for all employees.
· Oversee and monitor all company environmental issues and compliance.
· Manage and supervise the development of all direct reports.
· Develop and provide effective cross-training within and across production departments to ensure a continuous smooth-running operation.
· Instill and maintain a positive can-do team atmosphere within the organization.
· Continuing company focus on employee engagement.
· Help set the strategic direction and participate in planning actions to achieve the long-term vision.
· Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties:
· Participate in all senior management meetings, as scheduled, and requested.
· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all jobs within the department, plus all jobs awarded to the Company but not yet underway.
· Determine specific personnel requirements and shift schedules to meet the production targets, including outside suppliers of services, to meet the scheduling requirements, giving direction to shift supervisors with due regard to their abilities.
· Maintains a working knowledge of the industry and its equipment. The Plant Manager is expected to make recommendations concerning additions and alterations to the operating equipment; and, with input from senior management, to recommend the necessary physical plant requirements for any project needs.
· Actively implement and maintain a lean manufacturing program within the facility. Meet regularly with the President and appropriate staff elements to establish lean manufacturing goals and implementation procedures.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· High School Diploma/GED
· 4-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Computer skills include ERP software, CAD and Microsoft office products. Must be well versed on computers and data retrieval and analysis.
· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques (5s & Lean).
· Must be safety minded and be able to follow safety guidelines
· Must be able to adhere to company policies and procedure
· Ability to communicate with people and follow verbal and written instructions.
Schedule:
Full Time: Exempt
Typical work week is Monday – Thursday, with some Fridays expected
Physical Demands:

· Work in standing position up to 10 hours/shift
· Considerable arm movement
· Exposure to hot environments when assisting with metal pouring operation.
· Work requires close attention to lifting and handling of medium weight parts up to 50 lbs.

· Average shop conditions with some temperature variations due to seasons
· Subjected to noisy environment requires wearing of ear plugs.
· Standard PPE required: safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and special PPE for metal pouring if applicable.
