District Primary Purpose:            

To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program through the integration of technology that supports student success and achievement.

District Primary Purpose:

The role of the Technology Integration Specialist is to serve as a lead instructional technology resource for campus staff through the seamless integration of technology in daily instruction.  This person will develop, improve, or expand the use of technology in the instructional program by providing professional development to teachers, faculty, and administrators.  This person will also provide training and support to campus staff on the integration of 21st Century Skills, SAMR Model for technology integration and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards in the classroom.

Qualifications:

 

       Education/Certification:

Bachelors’ Degree & Minimum of 3 years teaching experience

Master of Educational Technology Degree Preferred

      Experience/Knowledge:

Experience in successfully integrating technology & other 21st Century Skills into teaching and learning.

Knowledge of Texas Pre K-12 Technology Applications TEKS.  

Knowledge of the SAMR Model for technology integration in the classroom

Knowledge of the ISTE Standards for Educators and Students

Knowledge of the lesson cycle and effective teaching practices

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of state, federal and private technology resources for education.

Effective in Coordinating Professional Development Meetings and Activities with Teachers

Effective in Delivery of Technology Integration professional development

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

 

  1. Enhance, plan, coordinate and implement professional development opportunities for LJISD Staff in the use and integration of technology and digital resources in classroom instruction.

 

  1. Provide on-site, on-demand assistance, training and ongoing support for teachers, staff, and administrators on educational technology tools, platforms, district technology instructional resources and technology applications integrating technology & other 21st Century Skills.

 

  1. Contribute to the development, communication, and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of technology to support a digital-age education for all students.

 

  1. Contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans at the district and school level.

 

  1. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences addressing content standards using a variety of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students.

 

  1. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences emphasizing creativity, higher-order thinking skills and processes.

 

  1. Coach teachers in and model effective use of technology tools and resources to continuously assess student learning and technology literacy by applying a rich variety of formative and summative assessments aligned with content and student technology standards.

 

  1. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning and are compatible with the school technology infrastructure.

 

  1. Model effective classroom management and collaborative learning strategies to maximize teacher and student use of digital tools and resources and access to technology-rich learning environments.

 

  1. Maintain and manage a variety of digital tools and resources for teacher and student use in technology-rich learning environments.

 

  1. Implement technology-rich professional learning programs that model principles of learning and promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.

 

  1. Use digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers, and the larger community.

 

  1. Model and promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers.

 

  1. Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.

 

  1. Provide guidance on using technology devices/apps for lesson planning, collaborating with teachers in the implementation SEAL, SIOP/ELPS, and WOW Design Qualities are integrated in the lesson planning to maximize student engagement.

 

  1. Provide technology integration strategies using the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition) Model, helping teachers transform their classrooms in to digital learning environments.

 

  1. Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in technology integration and current and emerging technologies necessary to effectively implement the student and teacher standards.

 

  1. Implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and manage the change process in schools and classrooms

 

  1. Regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences.

 

  1. Help support a district wide system designed to assist students in becoming technologically literate and to model the effective integration of technology resources and systems to promote research-based instructional methods that can be widely replicated.

 

  1. Serve as a source of information on trends, research, applications, and effective instructional practices related to technology integration district-wide.

 

  1. Attend and participate in all required meetings.

 

  1. Perform other duties as required and assigned.

            Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy and procedures, and maintain emotional control under stress.

 

Physical and Mental Demands:

Moderate lifting and carrying; District/State wide travel; prolonged sitting, standing, and walking, hearing and speaking clearly, working alone and working prolonged or irregular hours.
