The Logistics department is responsible for effectively and efficiently delivering materials management and logistics support to all LA28 functions. The Head of Logistics will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of a logistics ecosystem encompassing the Customs & Freight Forwarding, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Distribution, and Venue Operations. They will oversee the entire department and budget of $100M . Reporting to the Chief of Games Logistics & Services, the Head of Logistics, they will oversee all aspects of operations, from planning and procurement to execution. This position will play a critical role in the on-time and efficient delivery of the Games' equipment and materials, balancing innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategy for the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, aligning with broader Games operational objectives.
- Stand up verticals within the logistics department. Develop staffing plans, interview, hire and supervised employees
- Define and deliver against key performance indicators (KPI's) and key success factors within Logistics (e.g., procurement timelines, inventory management, reduction of post games non-usable assets)
- Support the evaluation, tender selection, and appointment of external vendors to provide services (i.e. customs brokerage, freight forwarding, distribution, warehousing)
- Initiate sponsor and vendor relationships to develop business plans, asset tracking procedures, and deployment, while fostering partnerships that reflect and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in alignment with LA28’s values.
- Support the efficient and cost-effective delivery of the right solution to support internal and external games clients in their planning and games time operation
- Oversee sub-functions including Customs & Freight Forwarding, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Distribution, and Venue Operations.
- Identify and mitigate risks which may impact cost performance.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify and resolve any critical issues impacting the games
- Create synergies with other functions to improve redundancy of assets, whilst balancing cost of Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E)
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to identify material and warehousing needs
- Ensure logistics strategies and processes prioritize inclusivity by engaging diverse suppliers, contractors, and vendors, and by promoting equitable opportunities throughout the supply chain.
- Oversee and coordinate logistics related facility management requirements
- Oversee, coordinate and consolidate and coordinate Real Estate procurement needs
Experience:
- 10 years' experience in end-to-end Logistics planning
- Logistic experience for events is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with previous Olympic & Paralympic Games or other multi-sport games such as Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, European Games or FIFA FWC will receive strong consideration
- Proven track record in managing complex projects, multi-tasking, and prioritization of tasks and deliverables
- Leadership skills in managing a diverse team
- Excellent analytical skills: ability to make decisions both independently and within a team environment
- Strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- A team player with a strong customer service focus with and a desire to go the extra mile
- Demonstrate ability in upward / downward communication
- Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
