Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Auto Body Paint Prepper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing vehicles for paint applications, including sanding, masking, and priming. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality finishes and smooth applications, requiring both precision and knowledge of the best practices in auto body prep work.
Responsibilities:
- Sand and smooth vehicle surfaces to remove imperfections, rust, and old paint.
- Mask and tape off areas of the vehicle that should not be painted.
- Apply primers and base coats to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
- Inspect surfaces for defects and prepare vehicles to meet industry standards.
- Work closely with painters and other technicians to ensure the prep work meets all specifications.
- Use proper techniques to remove contaminants such as dirt, grease, or oils.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
- Operate sanders, grinders, and other prep equipment.
- Assist with mixing and blending paint as needed.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Auto Body Paint Prepper or in a similar role (2 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of automotive paint and prep processes.
- Proficiency in sanding, priming, and masking techniques.
- Ability to work with attention to detail and in a time-sensitive environment.
- Familiarity with different types of paint, coatings, and finishes.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and proper handling of paint and chemicals.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment or materials when necessary.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Auto Body Technician certifications (preferred but not required).
