Job Description — OS&D Clerk/Specialist or Freight Claim Specialist
The OS&D / Freight Claim Clerk will be responsible for investigating and resolving freight exceptions, such as overages, shortages, damages, refused, and unmarked freight. The OS&D Specialist will inspect shipments to validate claims; work with claimants to assess responsibility and recreate damage scenarios to assess liability. This position will also research causes of claims, analyze root causes, determine resolutions, and communicate findings to management and customers in accordance with established procedures.
Job Duties:
- Identify and locate overages, shortages, damaged, refused, and unmarked freight for a wide variety of customer products.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and secured OS&D area.
- Responsible for preparing all paperwork and ensuring repackaging of all OS&D freight.
- Review/Research and resolve OS&D freight issues.
- Maintain accurate records for reporting all OS&D freight on a daily and weekly basis to company management.
- Assist with answering telephones, provide quality customer service, and assist with resolving customer concerns efficiently.
- Work in analyzing patterns and discovery of problem areas, which will be reported to company management to identify and eliminate problem areas and patterns.
- Works with company management to correct deficiencies in procedures.
- Identifies and review customer products, locations and accounts with multiple claims as a result of damage or loss.
Qualifications:
- Prior OS&D experience in the Transportation industry.
- High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.
- Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- OS&D experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Warehouse experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- 2-5 years of freight claim experience
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
