Job Description:
The Assistant Laboratory Manager will be responsible for supporting the Lab Manager in ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently and effectively, meeting the scientific and business needs of Lactalis Quality Management, Corporate Manufacturing, Marketing, and Research and Development.
This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage laboratory employees, coordinate testing schedules, and oversee the implementation of new equipment and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage laboratory employees and coordinate testing schedules.
- Oversee the implementation of new equipment and procedures.
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies.
- Collaborate with production and quality areas to reduce holds and complaints.
- Investigate out-of-spec microbiological results from equipment and product.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
- 4-7 years of experience in a plant laboratory preferably in the dairy industry.
- Strong basic laboratory skills (Chemistry and Microbiology).
- Strong Mathematics knowledge including stoichiometry and statistics.
- Effective and proficient communicator, both written and verbal.
- Business acumen includes problem-solving and analysis.
- Able to manage time through efficient planning and organizing of daily work.
- People Management skills.
- Proactive, flexible, analytical, and attentive to detail.
