Duties/Responsibilities:
Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Process weekly payroll for Plants 1 and 2 through Paychex.
- Track attendance points and perfect attendance for Plant 1.
- Maintain payroll journal entries for Plants 1 and 2.
- Manage HSA and 401(k) contributions, including weekly reporting and quarterly employer additions.
- Ensure compliance with payroll-related tax filings and deductions.
- Prepare employment verifications and payroll-related schedules for audits.
- Collect unpaid medical, dental, and life insurance premiums from employees on leave.
Financial Reporting & General Ledger:
- Prepare weekly labor reports for Plant 1.
- Perform daily cash reporting and weekly miscellaneous cash entries to the general ledger.
- Handle wires and transfers for all plants.
- Conduct monthly journal entries for accrued payroll, vacation, ESTA accrual, employee insurance, work comp, rent, prepaids, interest, property tax, depreciation, and inventory.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain payroll account worksheets.
- Complete annual property tax returns for Plants 1 and 2.
Fixed Asset Accounting:
- Track internal labor and materials for assets built by Lakeland Monroe Group.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation expenses.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and monitor accuracy of balance sheet entries.
Audits & Compliance:
- Provide payroll and financial data for 401(k), workers' compensation, and insurance audits.
- Complete surveys and regulatory reports as required.
- Prepare year-end schedules for annual audits.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and general ledger maintenance.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet applications, word processing, and accounting software (Expandable experience a plus).
- Strong clerical skills, including typing, filing, and use of a 10-key calculator.
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers and co-workers.
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Education and Experience:
- 2-year degree with an accounting emphasis and three years of related experience OR a 4-year degree with an accounting emphasis.
