Safety Manager
Department: Safety & Compliance
Reports To: Corporate Director of Safety
General Purpose
Ensures that the general compliance and safety procedures are followed by the driver fleet at all times.
Ensures the workplace follows DOT, OSHA and other federal, state, local, or industry specific regulations.
Takes proactive steps to reduce and prevent accidents, incidents, and avoidable work-related injuries.
Assists’ the safety team in creating functional strategies, specific objectives and goals, to push innovation in safety performance.
Main Job Tasks
- Oversee driver hiring process and address fleet needs as applicable.
- Conduct regular physical inspections of all company owned equipment, work areas, shops and buildings for any unsafe acts or hazards throughout the facility.
- Assist with and review all accident investigations.
- Perform safety work as directed by the Corporate Director of Safety.
- Coordinate safety and security staff meetings as needed
- Ensure the proper job and safety training is provided for all drivers.
- Claims reporting as directed by the Corporate Director of Safety
- Manage and mitigate exposures to Spills & Product Releases.
- Ensure distribution of the companies EHS&S Program.
Responsibilities and Duties
Driver Recruiting:
- Pre-screen candidates to ensure hiring requirements are met or exceeded
- Assist with electronically building, managing, and maintaining DQ Files
- Setup and manage driver profiles in TMW, Omnitracs, and Samsara
- Conducting safety orientation and training for new drivers
Accident Claims:
- Work closely with insurance providers and claims adjusters
- Report, manage, and oversee processing of all insurance claims as directed
- Equipment incident reporting and investigation
- Reporting incidents and damages to other companies and working with them to get payments
DOT, OSHA, FMCSA Compliance:
- Maintain DOT compliance on all drivers and files
- Work with drivers concerning daily compliance issues
- Answer questions on Federal DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
- Working knowledge of Hours of Service Regulations/ELD rules
- Setup and train drivers in all aspects of DOT regulations.
- Responsible for overseeing completion and submission/storage of D.O.T. 5800 Forms
HOS:
- Monitor driver HOS logs to ensure full compliance fleet-wide
- Investigate all HOS violations to determine cause
- Work closely with operations to ensure all drivers are trained and adhering to HOS rules
Qualifications and Skills
- 3-5 years verifiable experience in a Transportation Safety role
- Working Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations
- Substantial computer skills are a MUST to include:
MS Office, TMW, Omnitracs, Samsara, Driver Reach, and JJ Keller
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Ability to instruct and manage people fairly and effectively
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Truck Driving: 3 years (Preferred)
- Trucking Safety Management: 3 years (Preferred)
- Truck Driver Training: 3 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- CDL A (Preferred)
