Job Title:       Fine & Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator

SUMMARY: The Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Fine & Performing Arts activities in accordance with applicable District, State, and Federal policies related to academic content at both the classroom and District levels. This role involves implementing program components, creating long and short-term program goals, and providing recommendations for expenditures on activities, equipment, and supplies that enhance assigned programs. The coordinator responds to issues and inquiries from school district administrators, parents, and educators regarding educational reform, curriculum changes, school improvement efforts, benchmark activities, instructional objectives, and program evaluation.

Additionally, the Coordinator directs the development, selection, evaluation, and implementation of instructional programs and materials, and develops, implements, and coordinates a guaranteed viable fine and performing arts curriculum for K-12. They implement research-based leadership, maximize two-way communication, and monitor programs to ensure quality, fidelity, intensity, and consistency, thereby improving program efficiency and effectiveness. The coordinator serves as a resource to District personnel by providing support and guidance based on subject area knowledge and experience.

The Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum for Art, Music, Physical Education (PE), and Health across all grade levels. This role involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum aligns with state standards and best practices and supports student achievement and engagement in these diverse subject areas.

Job Tasks Descriptions

1.       Curriculum Development: Design, review, and update the curriculum for Art, Music, PE, and Health to ensure it meets educational standards and addresses the diverse needs of students.

2.       Professional Development: Plan and deliver professional development sessions for teachers to enhance instructional practices and curriculum implementation in the fine arts and related subjects.

3.       Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and oversee assessment development and implementation to monitor student progress and curriculum effectiveness. Analyze data to inform instructional decisions.

4.       Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other coordinators to align curriculum across grade levels and subjects. Elicit feedback from stakeholders to make continual improvements to the curriculum and assessments.

5.       Resource Management: Identify and recommend instructional materials, resources, and technologies that support the curriculum. Manage the budget for curriculum resources.

6.       Compliance: Ensure that the curriculum complies with district, state, and federal regulations and standards.

7.       Innovation: Stay current with educational research trends in Fine Arts, PE, and Health education. Implement innovative practices to enhance student learning.

8.       Support: Provide ongoing support and coaching to teachers in the implementation of the curriculum. Address any challenges or concerns that arise.

9.       Supervision and Evaluation: Supervise and evaluate Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA) to ensure effective implementation of curriculum initiatives. Provide feedback and support to TOSAs to enhance their professional growth and effectiveness.

10.   Assist School Administrators and Coordinators: Provide information and support in overall school/district curricular decisions and operations, including staffing, curriculum implementation, regulatory compliance, curriculum standards, and performance criteria.

11.   Facility Design and Remodeling: Assist staff in designing new facilities and remodeling existing ones to ensure the best instructional climate for student success.

12.   Higher Education Collaboration: Collaborate with colleges and universities regarding concurrent enrollment, AP courses, and course alignment to enhance communication, develop course objectives, and provide increased opportunities for students.

13.   Conduct Meetings: Plan and implement curriculum, address textbook evaluations, operational issues, development of benchmarks, and interpret regulatory policies to ensure service delivery in compliance with established guidelines.

14.   Confer with District Personnel: Discuss instructional techniques, curriculum development, supervision guidelines, and students' needs with other district personnel.

15.   Program Development and Implementation: Direct the development, selection, evaluation, maintenance of services, and implementation of new programs and processes within established timeframes and compliance requirements.

16.   Summer Music Program and All-City Activities: Direct the summer music program and All-City group activities to provide additional opportunities for students.

17.   Curriculum Content Management: Manage curriculum content to conform to district and state curriculum and instructional objectives.

18.   Classroom Observation: Observe classroom instruction as requested by school administrators to evaluate the implementation of established curriculum, instructional techniques, and classroom management.

19.   Program Oversight: Oversee fine and performing arts programs, including district policies and procedures, grant guidelines, state and federal regulations, budgets, equipment condition, and necessary repairs or replacements.

20.   Meeting Participation: Participate in professional associations, workshops, seminars, and conferences to convey and gather information regarding educational reform, curricular issues, and instructional issues.

21.   Budget: Prepare the fine and performing arts program budget and provide recommendations for expenditures on activities, equipment, supplies, and services to enhance assigned programs.

22.   Curriculum Modifications: Recommend curriculum modifications and changes based on district/state needs assessment data, researched-based practices, and professional sources to comply with best practices, district improvement plans, and established guidelines.

23.   Inquiry Response: Respond to inquiries from teachers, schools, and departments regarding instructional objectives, classroom activities, teaching, and program evaluation to provide information, assistance, and direction.

24.   Resource Provision: Serve as a resource to district personnel by providing support, guidance, and mentoring based on knowledge and experience to maintain high competencies within subject areas.

25.   Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between site administration, classroom teachers, the District office, and Civic Center Management to enhance communication and schedule the District’s free use of the Civic Center.

26.   Policy Implementation: Support and implement Board policies, administrative regulations, directives, and assist in developing policies and regulations to achieve operational goals.

27.   Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in job-related area.
  • Preferred courses or certification in school leadership.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Job-related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility.

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate Wyoming State Department of Education Certificate and/or endorsement.
