Bar Manager Job Description
Job Title: Bar Manager

Summary
The Bar Manager will be a member of the FOH management team and will also oversee all aspects of the
bar and beverage program including, but not limited to, those listed below.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
● Training and maintaining quality of work for all bar staff
● Educating servers and bartenders on all products offered by the bar (cocktails, wines, spirits, NA
beverages)
● Participating in line-up meetings with servers to ensure they are aware of any new items, 86’d
items, or general changes to the menu
● Coordinate frequent staff trainings
● Ensure bar staff has exceptional menu knowledge (both food and beverage)
● Frequent review of pricing and appropriate updating of liquor list
● Consistent and appropriate ordering of liquor, bar produce, NA beverages, bar equipment/tools,
and bar glassware
● Maintain a lean inventory without being short on product
● Arrange for the repair and maintenance of all bar equipment
● Weekly inventory and sales tracking
● Conducting bi-monthly deep cleans and schedule Ecolab sprays of the bar area
● Ensure bar is set up and broken down appropriately by barbacks on a daily basis
● Attend weekly financial meetings with executive management and aggressively strive to keep all
COGs within target percentages. Be able to explain any variances.
● Review, verify and compile all bar invoices, ensure everything is sent to executive office in a
timely manner
● Instill culture of hard work, dedication and passion within bar staff that will create and maintain
bar regulars
● Oversee bar labor
o Enforcing appropriate employee breaks
o Properly staffing bar based on business needs; forecasting trends and cutting staff as necessary
o Create weekly bar schedule and maintain list of employee time off requests
o Reviewing appropriate clock-ins by bar staff

Received: Directive from General Manager and Executive Managers
Given: Bartenders and Barbacks
Equipment:
Bar related equipment including dishwashers, coke guns, fridges, freezers, and ice machine
Experience/Education:
Must have extensive knowledge in all facets of a bar program and some prior bar management experience is needed.
Physical/ Cognitive Requirements:
● Must be a self-starter.
● Communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
● Engage enthusiastically and appropriately with guests
● Manage staff members effectively
● Carry out multiple tasks.
Computer Skills:
● Must be efficient in Word, Excel, Aloha POS
Communication:
● Individual must be enthusiastic, concerned with job and company as whole, openness with
supervisor and management, and punctual.
