Our law firm, exclusively dedicated to divorce and family law practice, has an immediate opening for an experienced full-time family law attorney. We are looking for a client-focused and compassionate individual to join our growing team of professionals. This is a remote position, which means you will enjoy a great deal of freedom and autonomy but must be highly disciplined and reliable. Other than court appearances, this job will be performed 100% remotely . Y ou must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision in a remote office / work-from-home setup. Virginia Family Law experience (5 years minimum) and particularly litigation experience is absolutely required as you will be advocating for clients in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William County Courts (and less frequently Arlington and Alexandria).
The family law litigation attorney will be responsible for managing cases from their inception to final resolution with the help of support staff. Successful candidates will have excellent research, drafting, negotiation, and trial advocacy skills.
While handling cases is the primary responsibility, the ideal candidate has more than just lawyering skills. Our clients and prospects are dealing with an emotionally difficult time in their lives so you must be able to empathize, show compassion, genuinely connect with various types of people, and always ensure a great client experience.
Compensation : Salary is commensurate with experience. Origination bonuses are paid for matters originated by the associate. Additional quarterly bonuses are available based on performance.
In addition to a competitive salary and bonus structure, compensation includes reimbursement for CLEs, bar license fees as well as health care (medical, dental, vision), 401k match, paid time off, and a tech budget to purchase home office equipment.
Compensation :
150,000 - $190,000 yearly
Responsibilities :
- Conduct client meetings by phone and video conference
- Draft various marital agreements including property settlement agreements, prenups, postnups, co-parenting plans, etc.
- Handle a case from its inception to trial / final resolution with the help of support staff
- Simultaneously handle cases in multiple Northern Virginia courts (Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William)
- Multitask and work with multiple deadlines
- Keep track of case progress
- Manage electronic client files
Qualifications : Qualifications
Experience
Counsel of record for 15 cases handling property division, AND
Counsel of record for 15 cases handling child custody issues, AND
Has handled 15 contested family law hearings (temporary orders hearings, enforcement hearings, modification hearings, and motions), AND
Has handled 3 final trials in family law cases as the first chair
