Essential Functions :
The People and Culture Generalist, reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture, will provide essential support on a wide range of initiatives including but not limited to employee leave of absence, bereavement benefits, workers compensation, employee relations, compliance, preparing for DCFS, COA, and other audits or accreditations. This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to addressing employee matters with a people-focused mindset, ensuring solutions align with best practices and organizational policies.
The Generalist will collaborate closely with the People and Culture team to enhance employee onboarding, recognition, retention, staff development, and training. This role requires strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills to independently drive projects to completion with limited supervision. Additionally, this position interacts frequently with employees and management at all levels, therefore effective verbal and written communication is essential.
The position requires an appreciation for the Lawrence Hall mission and a basic understanding of the youth / customers served by Lawrence Hall. Participation in basic trauma-informed training and the ability to apply skills learned when interacting with youth / employees of the agency will be expected. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to service, continuous learning, resourcefulness, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities :
- Manage all aspects of employee leave of absences including medical absences, time off benefits, payroll, reconciliations, and employee communication.
- Complete compliance reports for EEOC, DOL, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support employee needs while delivering high-quality service.
- Educate, coach, and provide counsel to managers and employees on routine progressive disciplinary action, performance, and other HR-related matters.
- Lead and contribute to various People and Culture projects including process improvements, policy and procedural updates, and program implementation.
- Coordinated all logistical aspects of the annual employee review process.
- Maintain accurate data entry in the HRIS, generate reports, and analyze key metrics for PQI reporting.
- Facilitate and / or lead People and Culture-related focus groups.
- Work effectively with program participants and family members, employees, and vendors in a culturally diverse environment to support healing and recovery.
- Uses active and reflective listening skills and affirmations to demonstrate respect and empathy, avoiding negative and derogatory labels that foster disrespect.
- Understand that behaviors, responses, attitudes, and emotions are a collection of survival skills often developed in response to traumatic experiences.
- Maintain confidentiality of employees, volunteers, and program participants to provide a safe environment.
- Complete at least two trauma-informed trainings annually to support professional development.
- Adapt work schedules as needed to meet agency needs and perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation :
62,500-$75,000 - Compensation is determined by a base salary for each position, with additional compensation considered based on relevant education and experience.
