Sports Card Store Retail Associate

Layton Sports Cards is a world leader in the sports card and trading card game industry. Formed in a small apartment in September of 2012, Layton Sports Cards has grown into a 7,000 sq ft facility. We have added Layton Gaming in September of 2021 and expansion plans continue with more locations opening in the future.

Role Summary & Requirements

Responsibilities of the Sports Cards Retail Associate:

• Must have experience in collecting sports cards, buying/selling sports cards, reading sports cards, and/or participating in the sports card industry.
• Must have knowledge in vintage and modern sports cards.
• Retail associates must be able to identify sports cards and associated varieties (baseball, football, and all other major sports card releases).
• Must have strong retail and cash-handling experience.
• Make recommendations based on observations and conversations with customers.
• Maintain the sports shop in a clean & organized manner keeping it within shop standards.
• Other tasks include tracking and displaying inventory.
• Candidates must be organized, extremely detail-oriented, and able to follow exact instructions, both written and verbal.
• Cleaning is required.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• All potential new hires must submit to a background check.
• *Weekends are required.*

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is standing or sitting, using their hands to handle cards and other items, and reaching with their arms. The employee may need to move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Should have a good understanding of basic computer concepts and technology.
• Should be proactive and a self-learner.
• Possess strong professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Should have a good attitude and ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
