What are the responsibilities and job description for the CXT Precast-Production Supervisor position at LB Foster?
Responsible for supervising employees during the material management process of precast products while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while diagnosing and solving problems and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
- Oversee employees and carryout supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Organizes, supervises, leads, and ensures employees are trained to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
- Manage yard and inventory to ensure a safe and clean atmosphere maintaining 5S standards.
- Manage shipping schedule while working with Production Planner to ensure goals are met.
- Ensure orders and overages are met according to sales order and line items.
- Ensure and check production reports according to actual order acknowledgements, ensuring quality standards are met and exceeded.
- Schedule employee work hours and vacations.
- High level working knowledge of all material management from shipping, receiving, and yard organization.
- Ensure all materials are visually checked to maintain high quality standards.
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Enforce all company safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures.
- Interacts extensively with management to report status, address challenges, and resolve project discrepancies.
- Identifies and captures continuous improvement opportunities in relevant areas.
- Control workflow to ensure the effective use of resources (labor, tools, equipment) and maximum use of available capacity.
- Maintains shipping schedules and coordinates with logistics, both internal and external.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure maintenance issues are recognized and addressed.
- Perform root cause analysis using tools such as five why method and communicate findings with impacted employees.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Experience, Education, & Licenses
- HS Diploma or GED
- Three years of supervisory experience
Skills & Abilities
- Self-motivated and driven to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data to make adjustment in a timely manner.
- Ability to work with cross functional teams, both internally and externally.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Experience in SAP / ERP a plus.
- Experience with inventory management.
- Ability to diagnose and solve problems.
- Strong decision-making skills
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and inventory control is a plus
