Intermodal Dispatcher

LCG Freight, Inc. is looking for an experienced INTERMODAL DISPATCHER in Charleston, SC who is capable of working with multiple terminals across the South East and Gulf Regions. Knowledgable of Rails/Ramps, Port Movement and the Port Online Platforms, and able to navigate intermodal driver interactions is required.

Equipped with designated team members working directly with you to support your efforts, this position is focused on frequent driver interaction, load movement coordination and efficiency.

Experienced Candidates should possess the following skill requirements:

· Intermodal Experience in Dispatching containerized freight (minimum of 2 years)

· Highly Organized

· Proficient Computer & Typing Skills

· Effective Multi-Tasking

· Strong Attention to Detail

· Strong Written & Verbal Communication Skills

· Ability to Manage & Retain Drivers

· Ability to Manage Interoffice Interactions Effectively

· Knowledge of FMCSA Regulations & DOT HOS Rules

· Working Knowledge of One or More of the Following Port Online Platforms (Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk, Jacksonville and/or Houston)

· Experience Working with both Company Drivers and Owner Operators

· Capable of Working Independently as Well as in a Team Environment

General Responsibilities:

• Daily dispatching of company drivers & independent contractors
• Manage dispatch boards and planning boards
• Daily contact with drivers via email, text and company cell phone
• Promote & support any customer service requests
• Handle any issues that may arise at delivery/load locations
• Accurately & timely relay container movement instructions to the drivers and other dispatch operators
• Assists with efficient function of Day-to-Day intermodal operations
• Ensure BOLs are issued correctly to drivers daily
• Confirm all drivers have the proper equipment, paperwork & credentials for effective & safe deliveries
• Update our computer system with milestones and load notes regularly
• Equipment/Truck tracking using our ELD System
• Track and Trace containers inbound as well as vessels and update system
• Plan and coordinate port moves across one or more terminals
• Effectively manage loads preventing Demurrage and Per Diem charges for customers
• Handle after hours & weekend Dispatch related calls from drivers on a shared rotation (Will not handle equipment matters or breakdowns, those calls are handled by the Fleet Operation Manager) - This separation reduces calls during non-business hours dramatically for the Dispatcher
• Other duties as assigned by management

Our Dispatchers benefit from having a separate Customer Service Team that they work with daily, who handle most communications with customers and warehouse scheduling. This frees up the Dispatcher to focus on driver/load related matters and prevents the typical situation of being pulled in too many different directions.

Dispatchers are therefore freed up to handle situations effectively and strategically while having time to see the big picture and make decisions to better accomplish company goals and become prepared for advancement within the company.

PAY BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND WHETHER CANDIDATE HAS KNOWLEDGE ACROSS MULTIPLE TERMINALS SERVICED BY LCG

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
