SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests, preparing, and serving beverages, quick hot/cold food items, and processing cash and credit card transactions accurately while maintaining a clean and organized bar and service area. This position requires a strong knowledge of cocktails, beers, and wines, as well as some light food preparation and excellent communication and multitasking skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to customers based on their preferences and orders. This involves knowing how to mix various cocktails, pour beers, and serve wines.
  • Serve hot food to customers, ensuring all necessary food safety standards are adhered to.
  • Interact with customers to take their drink and food orders, provide recommendations, and answer questions about the menu.
  • Take customer orders and deliver them in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage transactions using the pointofsale system, including handling cash and card payments.
  • Check customer identification to verify they are of legal drinking age for consumption or retail sale.
  • Keeping the bar area clean and organized is crucial for hygiene and efficiency. This includes wiping down counters, cleaning glasses and utensils while adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Bartenders need to be vigilant in observing customers' behavior and cutting off service to those who appear intoxicated or underage.
  • Track inventory levels and order supplies as necessary to ensure that the bar and food items are wellstocked including all ingredients, garnishes, and beverages.
  • Creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for customers. This includes engaging in small talk, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and valued.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and promptly.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EXPECTATIONS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong dependability and work ethic.
  • Experience handling and serving hot and cold food items preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions, preparing beverages, and serving food.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and making change.
  • Ability to be proactive, selfmotivated, and selfdirected
  • Present a positive, professional appearance and demeanor while conducting business, on premises and off.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is based at a seasonal marina bar located above a bait and tackle convenience store, that includes some service done in the outdoors which is subject to varying weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This would require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of boxes and bottles and bend or stand as necessary.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: : This is a Part-Time (Seasonal) position from May 1 – October 1. Weekly scheduled hours will not exceed 30 hours/week. Days and shifts will vary during the hours of operation, which are 7 days a week between 10:30AM – 9:30PM. Must be able to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in training.

TRAVEL: No travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 12 years of customer service experience required.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • Must obtain a valid bartender’s license upon hire and in accordance with local regulations.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to serve alcoholic beverages.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 12 years bartending experience preferred.
  • Serv Safe Certification preferred.
