Job Overview:
Ledgent is partnering with a client located in South Denver that is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Supervisor to oversee their accounts payable (AP) function. This is a direct hire role that is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations while maintaining compliance with company policies and financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in accounts payable and strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in invoice processing and payments.
- Review and approve invoices, payment batches, and expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
- Manage vendor relationships, addressing inquiries, discrepancies, and payment terms negotiations.
- Monitor AP aging reports, ensuring timely payments and minimizing late fees.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and inefficiencies.
- Train and support AP staff, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including procurement and finance, to improve AP processes.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, reporting requirements, and company financial policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to automation initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor or Associate degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts payable, with some supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of AP processes, financial controls, and general accounting principles.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with vendors and internal teams.
- Work Ethic: Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- This role is office-based- there is no potential for hybrid or remote work.
- Requires interaction with vendors, finance teams, and other internal departments.
