Work behind the scenes in park construction and administration. This hands-on internship offers a comprehensive Parks and Rec experience, culminating in a meaningful community project. This is a full-time internship, requiring 40-45 hours per week over a 12-14-week period. A monthly stipend of $1,000 will be provided. Must have declared a major/minor within parks and recreation, sports management, and/or related field, and completed a minimum of 75 credit hours or are in junior or senior year.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Visits, observes, and participates in different phases of the agency’s facilities, programs, and operations.
- Works with department supervisors to assist, shadow, and/or perform assigned tasks for each division and/or facility within the department, including recreation, administration, and parks construction and operations.
- Provides excellent patron service and maintains a positive public image by immediately addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents.
- Plans thoroughly in advance for all assignments.
- Communicate openly, honestly, and professionally at all times.
- Directly assists with events, programs, and facility operations.
- Complete and present a special project(s) before completing the internship.
- Ensures the enforcement of park and recreation rules and regulations.
- Performs those activities necessary to ensure the safety of participants.
- Attends meetings associated with the department and affiliated groups, including department staff meetings, staff training, and coach training/meetings.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

- Declared major/minor within parks and recreation, sports management, and/or related field, and completed a minimum of 75 credit hours or are in their junior or senior year.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Basic first aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Skills in organizing, planning, and preparing materials.
- Ability to understand the philosophy, methods, and techniques for administering recreation and athletic facilities.
- Skills in using general office equipment, including skills in Microsoft Office and Recreation software.
- Ability to problem solve and implement approved solutions and relate to the needs of all age groups.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with the public and supervisors. Ability to maintain self-control and composure and set a professional example for the staff and participants.
- Ability to understand, analyze, and implement ideas and concepts.
