Community Wellness & Recovery Navigator

License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance or be insurable is required
Summary: Responsible for providing critical resources, non-clinical assistance, advocacy, and recovery support to individuals who struggle or are in recovery from a substance use disorder. Also serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals to prevent relapse and promote long-tern recovery.
Education Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D). Peer Support Certified or obtain in first six months.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
Familiarity with Leech Lake band of Ojibwe and County Social Service Agencies
Resourceful, detail oriented and well organized.
High degree of professional ethics
Letter of support from community member or cultural advisor.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain logs, reports and document client interaction appropriately.
Support recovering persons to identify their area of need for professional support and services.
Connect individuals to appropriate professional resources when needed.
Identity community resources (recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural and spiritual resources). Assist recovering individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery.
Assist/Support individuals develop their own plan for advancing their recovery.
Identify barriers and develop strategies with client to overcome them.
Develop relationships with community groups/agencies.
Promote self-advocacy by assisting individuals to have their voices heard, their needs, goals
and objectives established as their focal point of their recovery.
Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community training opportunities.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis. If needed.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
All other related duties as assigned.
