LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2010 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations at Legacy Early College. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for key accounting functions, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and federal claims support. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Finance team, which emphasizes collaboration and cross-training to promote efficiency and professional growth.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accounts Payable – Process invoices, ensure timely payments, and maintain vendor relationships.
- Purchase Orders – Review and process purchase orders in compliance with financial policies.
- Credit Card Management – Reconcile credit card transactions and ensure proper documentation.
- Cash Management – Perform daily reconciliation of bank transactions and cash flow monitoring.
- General Ledger Maintenance – Maintain accurate financial records and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Account Reconciliations & Audit Support – Prepare and review reconciliations, assist with internal and external audits.
- Federal Claims Support – Assist in the preparation and submission of federal financial claims.
- Other Duties as Assigned – Provide additional financial and administrative support as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Business-related field with a concentration in Accounting.
- 2-5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including Pivot Tables), and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating as part of a team.
Preferred:
- Experience in school, governmental, or not-for-profit accounting.
- Federal claims processing experience.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as SAGE, Intacct, and UKG Ready.
- A proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the Legacy Early College community.
Compensation & Benefits
All staff may participate in a 401k with matching employer contributions and have access to the fitness center. Full time staff also qualify for state (PEBA) benefits (medical, vision, dental) and may accrue up to 12 personal days (96 hours) and 5 vacation days (40 hours) per academic year.
Work Schedule
This operates on the 240-day schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar.
