Description
The H2S Electronic Gas Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of H2S (Hydrogen Sulfide) detection and monitoring equipment.
The technician ensures that all systems are functioning correctly to protect personnel
from hazardous gas exposure in oilfield, industrial, and other high-risk environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
o Install H2S gas detection systems in accordance with industry standards
and company guidelines.
o Perform regular maintenance on H2S monitoring equipment to ensure
optimal performance and reliability.
o And other duties as assigned.
Calibration:
o Calibrate electronic gas detection instruments to ensure accurate
readings.
o Maintain calibration records and documentation for compliance with safety
regulations.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
o Diagnose and repair any malfunctions in H2S gas detection systems.
o Replace faulty components and ensure the system is back online with
minimal downtime.
Safety Compliance:
o Ensure all equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.
o Conduct safety checks and audits on installed systems to ensure
compliance with industry regulations.
Training and Support:
o Provide training to personnel on the operation and safety procedures
related to H2S detection systems.
o Offer technical support to clients and team members regarding H2S
monitoring systems.
Documentation:
o Maintain detailed records of all installations, maintenance, repairs, and
calibrations performed.
o Prepare reports and documentation as required for regulatory compliance
and internal auditing.
Qualifications

Education:
o High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or
associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field
preferred.
Experience:

o Proven experience in gas detection systems, preferably with H2S
monitoring equipment.
o Experience in the oil and gas industry is an advantage.
Skills:
o Strong technical and mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and
repair electronic systems.
o Proficient in the use of calibration equipment and tools.
o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
o Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
Certifications:
o H2S Awareness and Safety certification preferred.
o Other relevant safety and technical certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Comfortable working in outdoor and potentially hazardous environments.
Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Frequently twist/bend/stop/squat, operate hand controls.
Occasionally sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, write by hand, sort/file paperwork
or parts, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), work/reach above shoulders,
and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment:
Primarily field-based with exposure to industrial and oilfield environments. Hot,
Cold and Windy.
