Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to join our AEGIS Test Team in Bath, Maine. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the installation and conduct testing of the AN/SQQ-89A(V) Sonar Suite, working closely with dynamic schedules and coordinating with other members of the test team and ship's force.
This role encompasses all stages of production and post-sail away support, ensuring seamless delivery of our systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing direct support to expedite problem resolution and minimize schedule impact caused by USW system equipment problems
- Providing installation and testing inputs to daily and weekly reports
- Delivering a CD of the electronic database as requested
- Documenting visual/mechanical and electrical discrepancies discovered during assessment
- Performing configuration audits to verify installed USW system baselines on specified hulls per schedule and instructions provided
- Performing System Interoperability Validation (SIV)/equipment grooms using Government-approved procedures
- Coordinating testing of upgraded systems
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of prior relevant experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree)
- Understanding of basic sonar principles, equipment, and interfaces
- Ability to troubleshoot and test connectors, cable, power
- Proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Proven experience effectively communicating with senior US government representatives
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance upon hire
Additional Responsibilities
You will also be responsible for:
- Loading AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 software as per government-provided documentation
- Basic networking and/or Linux software experience
- Technical documentation experience, including Engineering Change Proposal/Order (ECP / ECO)
- Ability to independently research, assess, and present analyses of technical/logistics data and recommended options for government decision
