Overview:
This division is responsible for receipting large amounts of cash, checks and credit cards. The position requires the incumbent to communicate with co-workers, management and the public in a courteous and professional manner. The work is performed under close supervision and reviewed by observation, exception reports, and sampling by a Division Supervisor.
STARTING SALARY WILL NOT EXCEED 10% OF THE BASE SALARY
- Receives monies for all case types and collects payments for court costs, fees and fines.
- Prepares cash related reports and insuring all monies are accurate for deposit.
- Assists and answers questions to the public either over the counter or by telephone for court related cases.
- Searches computer records to verify payment amount and assure proper processing of suspension forms.
- Works in the Case Maintenance System (CMS) Benchmark to initiate and maintain court case records accurately.
- Ability to answer questions regarding procedures including option to appear in court and driving school.
- Administers and coordinates the payment plan program for criminal cases.
- Processes and submits criminal cases to collection agencies.
- Provides customer service assistance related to payment plans, court costs, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned including problem-solving and continuous process improvement.
- Prepares daily bank deposits from assigned departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Licensure or Certification Requirements:
Valid Florida Driver’s License as you may be required to work at either of our Annex locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, and ABILITIES:
- Skilled in basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to effectively use business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as court pleadings, hand-written and typed.
- Ability to read and interpret memorandums, calendars, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to resolve routine and non-routine problems in a professional manner.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or a GED equivalent, and three years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment. Basic mathematical aptitude, as well as alpha and numeric filing skills are required. Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite. Familiar with legal procedures, terminology and the court system.LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must be able to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of work variables.
Must be able to interpret instructions either oral, written, diagram, or schedule in form.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must be able to interact effectively with other staff and the public.
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups. Must be able to interpret assignment needs and to communicate effectively with employees and management. Must be able to work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, perform repetitive actions and motion of one or both hands, hear ordinary conversation and office sounds, conduct verbal communication- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
