This is a advanced technical position. General duties include researching, planning, implementing, and maintaining server, storage and database systems at Leon County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller. This individual is expected to be able to work independently without supervision within established policies and procedures.
Representative duties and tasks expected of the Database & Systems Administrator are listed below. The list does not include marginal tasks that are also performed but are incidental to the primary functions. General
- Plans and implements complex and routine short and long-range projects.
- Plans for future needs and develops transition plans. Identifies and recommends for purchase of appropriate tools, software, hardware and systems.
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures.
- Develops documentation and presents user education relating to database and information systems.
- Installs, supports, maintains and monitors server and storage systems both on premise as well as in the cloud.
- Provides proper access and security for user data and systems.
- Ensures the desktop, server and storage environment is up-to-date with the most recent system patches/security updates and adheres to standards.
- Performs backups and ensures recoverability of systems and data in the event of a disaster.
- Plans, designs, implements, installs, documents and maintains database systems. Analyzes database performance and perform tuning as needed.
- Utilizes Powershell, SQL, and scripting to perform and automate system tasks. Serves as backup to the Network Administrator.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Performs system maintenance outside of business hours and provide after-hours support as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field and two years of related technical work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred experience in Fortinet, Cisco and/or Network Security, Enterprise firewall experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, and ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general office policies and procedures. Ability to organize, meet requests, identify problems and work under pressure in a timely manner. Perform process analysis and propose solutions. Knowledge of current technology standards and requirements. Ability to learn technical processes, software and machinery. Good knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuations. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Abilities to interact with the general public and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner. Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers. Skills in the operation of a personal computer, good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and other office automation products, and the ability to learn specialized, complex, computer applications. Ability to perform high-level administrative support activities. Possess leadership skills and the ability to assist subordinates in accomplishing their work.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Complete Background Check of Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC)/ National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
